We are integrative.
Integrative- adjective: Intending to unify seperate things; complementary therapies.
Eastern bench is Salt Lake’s premiere acupuncture and massage therapy clinic because of our thoughtful methods and enthusiastic approach to holistic medicine for the whole family. We enjoy what we do. We have learned from our extensive experience, each other, and our clients to provide the best care possible.
We are dedicated to providing complementary care with meaningful results by using an integrative approach to holistic medicine. We use a unification of Chinese medicine, regenerative medicine, massage therapy, education on maintaining good health, complementary therapies, and our signature Fertility Growth Method.
We believe that healing takes a partnership between practitioner and patient as well as community involvement. While we love what we do and believe whole-heartedly in the powers of holistic medicine, we also realize that sometimes it takes more than one modality to help a person heal. For this reason, we rely on a network of healthcare professionals outside of our clinic to provide whole-person healthcare to our clients.
Chinese medicine: the original regenerative medicine.
Regenerative medicine is a term used to describe medical treatments, practices, and therapies focused on regenerating lost or damaged cells or tissues within the body in order to restore overall health and well being. Acupuncture has been incorporated into many regenerative medical practices because of its multitude of healing capabilities. Studies have found that it can regenerate and repair injured cells and help the body repiar tissues after injury or trauma.
At Eastern bench, we combine acupuncture with other regenerative medicine techniques such as injection therapy, microneedling, PRP, and cosmetic acupuncture treatments to provide deep, lasting, meaningful healing results for our patients and clients.
Manual therapy is one of the most powerful ways to support your healing efforts. If you are healing from an injury, increasing or changing your activity level, or changing your health in any way, consider including Bodywork and Massage into your wellness regimen. Here at Eastern Bench, we offer a multitude of variations of Bodywork to aid in recovery and maintenance of your health.
We believe that it takes a village to provide quality care. We take a team approach in and out of our clinic. We consult with one another as well as healthcare professionals outside of the clinic all with the same goal in mind- your healing! Everyone on our team, inside and outside the clinic, has their individual strengths and when we combine those you get our strongest care.
When we partner with our patients and their other healthcare providers we are truly providing integrated care. We also research and learn constantly. The exciting integration of eastern and western medicine brings new information on a regular basis. Whether it be new research, new partnerships with medical and allied healthcare professionals, influencers, and technologies, we love to learn and always do so with you in mind.
Many modalities are used in conjunction with acupuncture for added therapeutic effect. We use Chinese herbal medicine, gua sha, tui na, ancient fire-cupping, bodywork, and moxibustion to improve the flow of “Qi” (pronounced ‘chee’) or energy through the energetic pathways (called meridians) of your body.
Fertility Growth Method
With over twenty years education and experience, our co-founder, Dr. Heather Seay, DACM, LAc, FABORM, created her very own Fertility Growth Method. This integrated approach is a step-by-step process of hormone and menstrual cycle balancing, targeted testing, improving key bodily systems that affect fertility, reducing inflammation and helping your body get in peak performance to have a healthy pregnancy and baby.
Have a question? Reach out!
Eastern Bench is a reputable wellness clinic in the Salt Lake area with a specialty in natural fertility and IVF support. We are very dedicated to providing high quality holistic care to our clients. To set up an appointment, please call (385)279-2410 or request an appointment online. We offer free 15 minute consultations to those who would like to learn more about our treatment options. Please contact us by submitting this form if you should have any additional questions.
What is the free consultation? How does that differ from an initial consultation?
A free consultation is a 15 minute conversation either over the phone or through our secure video chat to answer any questions you may have about acupuncture, bodywork, our methods, and whether or not our methods will benefit you and your condition.
An initial consultation is your first step to treatment with Eastern Bench. You have the option of a stand alone virtual consultation, or a consultation paired with an acupuncture treatment. For a consultation paired with an acupuncture treatment, you can either do both in-clinic in the same appointment, or you can have your consultation virtually & then come in for acupuncture at a later date. Either way you will submit preliminary paperwork, and meet with a practitioner about your health history, diet, lifestyle, current condition, goals, etc. and you will receive a recommended treatment protocol. Whether or not you decide to continue with treatment, you will receive insights into your condition and tips to proceed personally.
Do you accept insurance?
We work with out of network insurance companies. That means that if you have met your deductible and have out of network acupuncture benefits, then your PPO insurance company will often cover 65-100% of your treatment. You pay upfront at the time of service and we will bill your insurance company directly for your reimbursement. We customarily receive reimbursement from Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare PPO within 30 days but please call your provider to confirm your specific benefits.
How long do I need to come for treatment?
You don’t need to come for treatment forever… although you could. Most of our patients start to see results after the first few treatments, if not immediately depending on the condition. Your acupuncturist will be able to give you a specific treatment plan after your initial consultation. Keep in mind that acupuncture works cumulatively and is dose dependent. Consistency of treatment is key because each acupuncture treatment builds on the previous treatment and you need to get enough acupuncture to start seeing results- just like you wouldn’t expect to see results after working out one time, acupuncture works in the same way.
If you are being treated for fertility, most women see results within 3-6 months, whether it be in your cycle, ovulation, or even pregnancy. Some take a little longer, some get pregnant right away. It just depends.
What conditions have you treated?
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are effective in treating the following conditions (click on each for more information):
- Unexplained infertility
- Recurrent miscarriage
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
- Amenorrhea (no period for longer than three months)
- Irregular menstrual cycle
- High FSH/Low ovarian reserve/Poor egg quality
- Male Factor
- Luteal Phase Defect
- Hormone Imbalances
- Immunological Factors
- IVF/IUI Support
What happens if I’m not pregnant within 6 months?
If you’re not pregnant within 6 months after following our suggestions step-by-step along with consistent treatment, there may be hidden medical conditions. These conditions may be polyps, blocked tube, uterine infections, structural issues with the uterus, etc. We will refer you to a Reproductive Endocrinologist, if you don’t already have one.
Do you ever have people who don’t get pregnant even with your help?
Yes, of course! Everyone is different and it’s possible that even giving it 110% doesn’t equal results. Some of these patients move onto IUI and/or IVF, and use acupuncture to increase chances of success. Continuing acupuncture along with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) multiplies your success. For more information on Acupuncture and ART, click here.
The best advice we can give here is to take daily actions towards your goal, this is the best way to ensure there are no regrets.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. Acupuncture is used by millions of Americans every year. Acupuncturists are required to undergo extensive education, including detailed studies of human anatomy, physiology, and training in Clean Needle Technique. The needles used are pre-packaged and 100% sterilized. They are only used once and then are properly disposed of in labeled bio-hazard containers.
Acupuncturists receive a Master’s Degree initially and some go on to receive a doctorate (an additional 2-4 years), are tested to be licensed in their state, and require continuing education courses every 2 years. In addition to this, Acupuncturists in our clinic take hundreds of hours of continuing education every year, are ABORM certified and are trained in the Fertility Growth Method.
